dc.description.abstract | On May 10 and May 11, 2023, state-owned TV channel ITN and privately-owned Hiru TV channel reported on the incident where a tuition master sexually harassed 16 students in Kalutara. Both TV channels used the derogatory term "Gura" (ගුරා) to refer to the tuition master in question. Even in instances that concern a serious offence, media is advised to maintain the neutrality of their coverage rather than use terms that negatively highlight a specific profession. | en_US |
