Abstract

During the months April and May 2023, one article in privately-owned Mawbima newspaper and several articles in state-owned Dinamina newspapers contained violations pertaining to gender discrimination. These reports highlighted women when both women and men have been arrested over an offence, stereotyping women and assigning more blame to women. Media ethical guidelines recommend gender sensitive reporting, aiming to portray all genders fairly and without bias.
